A hygiene kit is provided upon checking into jail. This kit contains soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb. You will have daily access to a razor for shaving. After that you will be required to purchase any additional hygiene items.

To deposit money into an inmate's account you have (3) options.
1. Deposit in the jail lobby kiosk.
2. See Jail Staff at the front desk for assistance.

Fees associated for sentenced inmates
If you are a Minnehaha County sentenced inmate, you will be charged a $10.00 day fee for every day you are sentenced. If you are serving a sentence for another county you will not be charged $10.00/day by Minnehaha County.
For deposits made on inmate accounts with a negative room and board balance from a previous sentenced stay, 50% of the deposit will be applied toward the negative balance and 50% will be applied to the inmate’s general account.
In an effort to keep contraband out of the Minnehaha County Jail Facility, Minnehaha County is implementing a new system for sending documents, photos and mail to inmates.
If you wish to send documents, photos and mail to inmates, we now have a quicker and more efficient method using our new Inmate Messaging system where you can go to www.NCIC.com and set up an account. You can then easily send messages to inmate for instant delivery. You can also take a picture of any documents and attach to these messages. Messages are only $0.25 per messages and Picture Messages / Documents are only $0.35 each. There are no limits on how many messages and photos that can be sent to inmates.
Beginning on October 10, 2022 all inmate mail, EXCEPT for legal and medical mail, must be mailed to the following address utilizing existing Minnehaha County Jail mail rules.

Books and magazines ordered directly from a publisher or bookstore can be mailed to the jail’s address. They must be delivered through the US mail or UPS type of service. Books and magazines from companies known to allow third-party sellers will not be accepted. Such companies include but are not limited to; Amazon, Walmart and Target.
Any mail that is sent to PO Box 591, Longview, Texas 75606 for processing will NOT be returned or released. Once the mail is processed and received electronically by the inmate it will be destroyed. This includes pictures or anything else mailed to the processing facility. By sending the mail to PO Box 591, Longview, Texas 75606 you agree to the items being destroyed and understand that anything you mail to PO Box 591, Longview, Texas 75606 will not be returned or reimbursed for. No legal or medical mail will be accepted.
Once the mail is received for processing it will be scanned in at the central processing location and then will be sent to the inmate electronically via the same messaging system referenced above and the inmate can then view it on the kiosk in their cell.
Packages sent to an inmate
Effective October 1st, 2022, the Minnehaha County Jail will no longer accept books for inmates. The jail is now using NCIC tablets. These tablets offer a library of books that our inmate population have access to free of charge.
Any packages sent will need prior approval by a Sergeant before it is mailed. If it is not approved, the package will not be accepted or returned to sender.

All Incoming mail to an inmate must have a return name and address on the mail. If the letter does not have this information the letter will not be given to the inmate and placed into their property.
